Subterranean Termite Local Treatment

Subterranean Termites need moisture and soil, they travel through mud tubes that they build to protect and allow them to stay above ground to feed on the wood member. Our objective is to get chemical in the soil where the termite is.  In a lot of cases, subs will come up through cracks or joints in concrete slabs.  In this instance, the concrete slab is drilled using a 1/2 diameter drill bit, space about 12-18inch apart, depending on where the drilling takes place.  Chemical is then injected through the holes to the soil beneath creating a chemical barrier.  Treatment can also be applied to open areas where soil is encounter.  This is accomplished by rodding and or trenching the soil and applying chemical as well.  These treatments are very effective with the right chemicals and can last years in the areas treated.

Drywood Termite Local Treatment

Unlike subterranean, drywood termites do not need moisture and do not need to return to the soil.  Most wood framed houses consist of pine which is a drywood termite's preference. This species of termite make galleries in the wood to brood there young and feed. These galleries get filled up with droppings as they make their way slowly down the length of the wood member. These droppings are kicked out through small pin point sized holes which give the inspector and applicator the evidence of where they are located in that wood member. The objective is to drill and treat the infested wood and surrounding members by injecting chemical into the infested wood.  Using chemical that are residual to control the infestation.  There are several Techniques, some are very effective, and others are not so effective.  The drill and treat method is the traditional and the most effective way of controlling infestations that are accessible.

Fumigation for Drywood Termite

On properties that are heavily infested, or if the infestation is too impractical or inaccessible to locally treat, it is most likely necessary to fumigate. Fumigation is one of most effective forms of treatment. It is the only form of treatment that covers the entire property at one time. The process usually takes 3 days.  For more information about fumigation, please click on the picture or call us at 626-575-6330.
